Bryan Mills is a retired CIA operative, living in Los Angeles in order to be in closer proximity to his seventeen year old daughter. He is divorced and lives alone. He makes a living on the side, contracting out his services for high level security details, and other executive protection services.

Mills recently returned from Europe where he rescued his daughter from human traffickers. His relationship with his daughter had been strained, due to the time he'd spent away during her childhood, but now, things are looking up.

Mills is a former member of the CIA's Special Activities Division , a covert paramilitary branch of the Company specialising in gathering human intelligence in hostile or diplomatically inaccessible areas. He specialises in going into environments without any identification or visible support, and adapting to his surroundings. It is a job that requires all a man has to give, his mind, his body, his soul. He is one of the rare few to survive to the age of retirement. And he paid for his service with his marriage and his relationship to his daughter. The latter is a mistake he is now attempting to rectify.

Mills is a quiet, intense personality, but he is not unfriendly. After years of being on guard, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, he's finally learning how to unwind a little. He has friends from the Service who show up on his door once a month with steaks and a bottle of wine or three.

His training includes hand to hand combat including kali & jeet-kun-do, light arms, field craft, tactics, and defensive driving. His team gives him intel support when it's required.
